Canadian Friends Service Committee has been engaging Friends and the broader community in a new conversation about justice and punishment for several years. We know it is important to reach beyond the people who are traditionally engaged in this conversation, and encourage people, especially those of faith, to ask the question, Why should I care about justice? With this goal, we offer workshops and have developed educational resources for groups to share.

Considering Justice Informational Brochures

A series of informational brochures about justice that share some of what Friends have learned through our lived experiences about the complicated responses to crime and harm that exist in Canada. We hope that these resources will provoke thoughtful discourse on how we can better respond to the concerns for victims caused by crime, and developing responses that increase public safety.

If you have any questions or concerns about the presentation of the statistics in these resources, please contact CFSC’s Quakers Fostering Justice Program Coordinator.

Workshops

Canadian Friends Service Committee offers workshops through the Quakers Fostering Justice program committee to schools, prisons, community groups, Monthly Meetings and other faith congregations.

These are generally small-group workshops facilitated with the understanding that those who participate bring wisdom and valuable experiences.  The length and size of the workshops vary, based on the needs of the group.

Workshops offered include:

•  Those who Suffer:  Being with those Harmed by Crime
•  Exploring Justice in Canada
•  Restorative Justice:  What is it?
•  Art Tools for Justice: Get Creative!  Be Bold!  Act Messy!

If you are interested in hosting a workshop, please read our brochure and contact the Program Coordinator of Quakers Fostering Justice.
