Telling the Untold Story of Nonviolent Action to End the Occupation

A training at the International Middle East Media Centre which publishes stories of non-violent efforts for peace and change.
The International Middle East Media Centre is the web-based media project of the Palestinian Centre for Rapprochement between People (PCR) in Beit Sahour, Palestine. IMEMC’s work is directed at getting alternative information about what is going on in the occupied territories—including stories of non-violent resistance actions by Palestinians, often joined by Israeli and/or international activists—into mainstream media around the world.
CFSC has supported PCR’s IMEMC project since August 2004, and Canadian Quakers promote IMEMC to journalist contacts and invite sympathetic organizations to place a link to IMEMC on their websites.
Get the Story: The IMEMC website is very interactive. For instance, type in the word “nonviolent” or the name of one of the villages impacted by Israel’s separation wall (e.g., Budrous, Jayous, Biddu, Bil’in) and numerous articles describing nonviolent actions appear.
We invite you to read Nova Scotian Quaker Sara avMaat’s report of her visit to PCR in November 2011 as a part of the World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme.
