International Day of Peace 2021 Joint Statement
September 21, 2021“An attack on human rights everywhere”
October 25, 2021The seeds of the Canadian Coalition for Children with Incarcerated Parents (CCCIP) were sown many years ago, influenced by Quaker work internationally.
In January 2019, CFSC hosted the Dialogue on Children of Incarcerated Parents (PDF) in Toronto. This two-day event brought together individuals and organizations from across Canada to share knowledge, learn, and make connections.
After the meeting, the Canadian Coalition for Children with Incarcerated Parents emerged as the essential next step. CCCIP advocates for children’s rights and seeks to create safeguards to ensure that the best interests of the child are a primary consideration in all decisions and at every stage of the justice system in Canada.
For the last year-and-a-half and as a founding member of CCCIP, we’ve worked with other members to create an active and sustainable Coalition. The new CCCIP website was launched at the end of September at an international conference on children with incarnated parents.
